Memoirs. Publish your own book.
Robin Brooks at The Beauty of Books loves to design memoirs or personal histories. These enable us to learn more of the intimate process of our own evolution. They have the capacity to educate us about different times and about different perspectives on our own times. Each life has value. Each life has its own unique purpose. Thus, each memoir written and then gifted to us speaks its special message through which we have the capacity to grow.
Robin loves the process of working with you, the author, to publish your own book. Whether you have written your own memoir or you are a personal historian who has interviewed and written the life of another, Robin is here to guide you through the next steps. From the first email or phone conversation, a relationship begins to build that centers not only around you both as people, but also around this piece of writing that has consumed you for so long.
To publish your own book — your own memoir — is a feat of creativity and persistence, yet it is also one of courage. You (or your client, if you are a personal historian) have faced with honesty the days and years of your life, and you are offering these to others to read and perhaps to learn from. It is an honor for Robin to take part in this next step, of creating from your manuscript a book that reflects you and your presence in the life that you have lived.
Robin has designed these self-published memoirs or personal histories: Wasn't That a Time! A Corcoran Family Memoir: 1925-1950; A Sense of Place: The Story of the Williams Family Farm; Grampa... where did we come from?; Memories of the Spanish Civil War; and Vignettes: Bertha C. Coors & Harold S. "Jack" Munroe. In each case the voice and story coming from the author allowed Robin into the unknown sphere of a person's life, of what has been chosen to be revealed. It is with pleasure that Robin serves this revelation in the design and production of a book which yields and honors this life.
