Wasn’t That a Time! A Corcoran Family Memoir: 1925-1950
Robin Brooks at The Beauty of Books worked with writer and personal historian Mary Littlefield to design and produce Joseph E. Corcoran’s family memoir. Wasn’t That a Time! A Corcoran Family Memoir: 1925-1950 is a poignant tale about an Irish immigrant family during the Depression and World War II. It is a beautiful telling of difficult, heart-wrenching times, expressed with humor and humility. (7 1/4” x 8 1/4,” 228 pages)
The text for this book was complex. As shown below, there was narrative, along with interviews, and sidebars. The images were mostly printed using false duotone, with a couple of images veryspecial to the author printed in color, like a painting of his mother in a red dress.
A period map was created to show just where everything took place in the family's neighborhood. This was printed on the entire inside cover.
