Robin Brooks, principal of The Beauty of Books, transforms the messages and lessons of life into what clients have called “stunning” memoirs, personal histories, books on spirituality, art, poetry, and — on occasion — fiction.
The Beauty of Books collaborates with seasoned editors, personal historians, printers, and other suppliers. Together, we can help you make important decisions about your book’s form, appearance, process, and the best way to get it printed. If you are not a writer, but you want your own, your family's, or your business story written, I can also put you in touch with a personal historian who can help to write that story.
Robin works with high-end offset and short-run digital printers, as well as the print-on-demand (POD) services of Ingram Sparks and Create Space. This means that you have the flexibility of a traditional offset printer for a large print run, an excellent digital printer for a small run, or true POD for those books you'd like to get out into the world economically. Being a published author herself, having previously gone the self-publishing route, she also has a basic knowledge of distribution and marketing.
Look through Robin’s book designs as a starting point. Get a sense of what she does. Then, Robin will listen as you describe either yourself or your client (if you're a personal historian). Then, she'll want to know what the book is about, what the nugget of the story is, what the challenges and victories are. She’ll also ask you about the kinds of readers you envision. Then she’ll be ready to work with you on specifics — always with budget in mind.
